JJ Bleday: Doing good man what about you?
Shane Herman: Good. How are you? So how does it feel being drafted by the Miami Marlins in the first round?
JJ Bleday: It feels good man. It’s awesome. Ya know it’s great to be a part of this organization and to finally, you know, have another chapter in your life.
Shane Herman: Yeah. Who are you looking forward to playing with the most on the Miami Marlins?
JJ Bleday: I’m not sure yet. You know, I just right now, I’m just taking it one day at a time. Then when it happens, you know, get to meet the guys and then just take it from there.
Shane Herman: Yeah. So what kind of gear do you use?
JJ Bleday: Right now I’m just trying everything, you know. I don’t really have a preference right now. I’m just trying out everything and then see what I like the most.
Shane Herman: Nice. What age did you start playing baseball at?
JJ Bleday: I started like swinging a bat when I was, you know, two to three years old. I was always dragging a bat around and, you know, my dad was always throwing to me. You know, wiffle balls when I was four years old and just started at young age.
Shane Herman: Nice. Were you the best on your little league team?
JJ Bleday: Yeah, absolutely.
Shane Herman: Yeah. Who was your favorite MLB player as a kid? Like who did you look up to?
JJ Bleday: I looked up to quite a few players, well, one of my favorite hitters of all time was Barry Bonds and then Robinson Cano. I’d say those were my two favorite. Those two lefties.
Shane Herman: Those guys are really good. What’s your favorite thing to do outside of baseball?
JJ Bleday: You know, just hang out with with my friends, go fishing and you know, just enjoy time off.
Shane Herman: Yeah. What’s your favorite kind of food?
JJ Bleday: Favorite kind of food is Italian love Italian.
Shane Herman: Yeah. Pizza?
JJ Bleday: Yeah. Or a chicken parm.
Shane Herman: Oh yeah, that’s really good. How did it feel to be part of the College World Series winning team?
JJ Bleday: It felt awesome, man. It was cool. It was a cool experience. You know, it’s something that’s gonna last a lifetime for memories.
Shane Herman: Yeah. Thank you so much for doing this, JJ. Thank you.
JJ Bleday: Yeah no problem man.
